SALT SHOP

I am in love with the photos in this post, why? Obviously Justine is a very talented photographer, and the California sun certainly doesn’t hurt either, but the reason I love them so much is because of the clothes (which aren’t just any clothes). Let me explain…

You see I have this really awesome friend back home, and she has a really awesome shop – Salt Shop to be exact! Jess has been one of my closest friends for a long time and literally everything she does radiates her talent and thoughtfulness. The tank I’m wearing was designed and silkscreened (by hand) and the fabric (made from bamboo) is literally the softest thing I have ever put on my body. But this is nothing new, each one of Jess’ pieces shows how much thought and care goes into her work!

It was such an amazing experience getting to shoot so many pieces from Salt Shop, which you will see a lot more of in future posts! If you’ve been kicking around LSS for a while you’ll already know how much I love supporting our Canadian small businesses, but actually seeing first hand over the years how much work Jess puts into her business makes it so much closer to my heart.

If you live on the West Coast or happen to find yourself on Salt Spring Island, pop into Salt Shop yourself to see how amazing it is! Or, if you happen to love locally made ethical fashion as much as I do (oh yah that’s freaking cute and comfortable as well), check out the online shop! I love the gift ideas section which is so perfect for the holidays…I guess they are right around the corner now, yikes. Well one thing about the holidays is that it means I get to go home to see Jess myself, yay!
