As someone who’s never been a diehard gloss fan in the past, it sure does seem like I’ve been embracing it with full force these days! When Make Up For Ever launched their Artist Plexi Gloss collection, I couldn’t wait to try it. Ultra glossy lips, a vivid colour selection and great staying power…who wouldn’t want that? What’s more is that the new Plexi glosses, although a bit more tacky than your average gloss, are quite comfortable to wear! Just keep your hair out of your face.
I received a selection of shades to try and have been wearing them constantly since they arrived. I love the funny little applicator that comes with the product, which grabs just the right amount of product (if not sometimes a little less) so you’re not wasting anything. The tip of the applicator itself is also very flexible, making it great for working around the curves of your lips.
The only negative thing I have to say about these glosses is that they do catch on any dry spots, so make sure to exfoliate your lips first! As many of you know, my skin leans more dry, so I have trouble with these types of things often. I also find that because these glosses are so thick and pigmented, the colour sometimes tends to sit in the creases, but if you smack your lips together to redistribute the product it sorts out that issue quite nicely.
Captured in the photo above is the shade 500 which is a vibrant lilac colour. I was so excited to try this one in particular because it is unlike any lip colour in my collection. If you know me, this probably isn’t the sort of shade I’m going to go running out and about in, but I think it’s great for photos and events…a conversation starter if you will! If you want to see an example of another shade from this collection, you can see me wearing 101 in this post where I paired the creamy nude colour with a bronzed lid.
Overall I am super pleased with the Artist Plexi Glosses. They are definitely a product that you want to apply in front of a mirror (maybe you can get away without one for the lighter shades), but they wear beautifully and for a decent few hours. I haven’t yet tested out the full five hour claim yet (have worn for three hours on a few occasions), but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did last that long. I really enjoy wearing these glosses on their own, but I imagine they are amazing on top of lipsticks as well!
If you’re a gloss girl, or after a super high shine product with a ridiculous amount of colour options, I recommend giving these a go. At $23 CAD a pop, they’re quite affordable for what they are. As usual, Make Up For Ever never disappoints.
Have you tried anything from this range?

May 13, 2015 at 10:11 AMThank YOU! Haha, I came out of the bathroom and Steven’s like…you look weird. I was trying to explain to him that this was a “thing” and in no way a new concept. I’m so glad someone appreciates it 😉 xx

May 12, 2015 at 10:16 AMThat color is AMAZING! Though I’ve never been one for lipsticks/glosses that stray away from nudes or reds, I’ve recently been itching for bright fuschia (or purple!) lips. Not sure I can pull it off as well as you though!
