A few months ago I received news that I was one of ten bloggers selected to be a part of the CrossIron Mills Saving Secrets Style Panel. That’s right, I’ve been keeping this a well-kept secret for a while and now I can (finally) share it with all of you! So what does one do on the Style Panel? Basically, local bloggers partner with the shopping centre to curate trendy, seasonal outfits. Each blogger is given a gift card for $250 to shop for their outfit. The only rules are that we have to use items from at least three different stores and our inspiration has to come from one of the trends set by The Style Guys. For today’s outfit I have chosen a Summer Festival look. Hope you enjoy!
First of all, I have to say that I had a bit of a hard time using up my entire gift card…you would not believe how far you can make $250 stretch at CrossIron Mills. With more than 200 stores and premium brand outlets, there is a whole lot to choose from!
My goal was to not only curate a seasonally appropriate outfit following my set theme, but to also come out of it with a few new pieces that I could wear all year round.
I found my first piece at Levi’s, a classic denim vest which (if you can believe) I’ve never owned in my life. I’ve already worn it many times and find that it is the perfect edition to any summer dress, adding an instant cool girl vibe to my outfit (and also keeping me warmer in the evenings). In the fall I will definitely be sporting this piece with plaid button-ups and hoodies. At half off the original price, how could I resist?
Next stop was H&M. I am a big lover of H&M and knew it wouldn’t fail me in finding the perfect dress to pair with my vest. The one I wound up choosing came in a few different prints, but I liked the summery tropical print of this one. My favourite part is the hem of the skirt, which is lower in the back and very ruffly. After all, if you’re going to a music festival, a good twirling skirt is a definite must!
When I popped into ALDO in search of boots, they didn’t have the exact pair I wanted in store…you know how it is, when you get your heart set on something there is no compromise to be had! Luckily, a very helpful shop attendant was able to order them in for me (with delivery straight to my home at no extra cost). I was surprised at check out to see my total was HALF of what I expected! Where else can you find suede boots for $50? I was ecstatic. If you go to the ALDO site you can see my boots are on sale, but still for double what I paid at CrossIron. Unbelievable.
With the rest of my gift card I shopped for accessories at the Banana Republic Factory Store. I purchased a great straw hat, two necklaces to layer and a small cuff bracelet.
I am so excited about my purchases and the fact that not only is the entire outfit completely adorable, but that I can keep on enjoying many of the pieces I purchased throughout the rest of the year! If you’ve never been, CrossIron Mills is a wonderful place to shop. Sure, it is a little bit of a drive from the city, but the experience is incomparable to any other local shopping centres. It’s beautiful design and large layout always make it a pleasant (and never overcrowded or stressful) experience.
What do you think of my outfit? I can’t wait to share more looks with you!
