Though delicate, barely there jewellery tends to be my everyday staple, one thing has remained a constant contradiction to that habit…enter the statement necklace. My love for a good statement necklace goes back years, to the very first time I saw Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. The perfect piece can turn the simplest outfit chic and that’s why I love them, the versatility.
Statement necklaces aren’t something reserved just for cocktail parties anymore. There’s no need to fuss about with anything fancy (unless you really want to), on the contrary, there is absolutely no reason why you can work a great statement necklace into even the most casual of outfits.
I received the Frances Pearl Statement Necklace from Stella & Dot a few weeks ago and it was love at first sight. I adore pearls in general, but I really loved this twist on the classic multi-strand necklace. The cool thing about it is that you can actually wear it on the reverse side too (which is gold), making it even more versatile than I initially imagined.
So what does one wear with a statement necklace? My favourites are (obviously) pearls but I also love rhinestones or solid metal pieces because there is no colour-cordination involved. To keep things casual you can wear your favourite piece with a blouse and jeans as I did or pair it with a winter flannel or chunky knit. Feeling a little more on the dressy side? Wear it with a shirtdress or sweater/shirt combo and heels.
I am completely obsessed with my new piece and feel so special every time I put it on. As this is my first Stella & Dot piece I can tell you that I am extremely pleased with the quality and would indeed order from them again in a heartbeat.
What do you think? How do you style your favourite statement necklace?
xx -b.
